The company works with fast-growing scale-ups and technology businesses and positions itself as a long-term partner for global expansion.
Role Overview
This remote position is for a Director of Project Management who will oversee strategic onboarding, implementation, consulting, and transformation initiatives across HSP’s global service lines. The role carries responsibility for delivery outcomes, client satisfaction, team leadership, and strong governance across a portfolio of complex multinational projects.
To succeed, you’ll need strong stakeholder management, commercial judgment, and leadership skills. Acting as a senior contact for clients, partners, and internal teams, you will contribute to solution design, proposal work, pricing conversations, and senior customer discussions while also improving the performance of the Special Projects function.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic program delivery will be central to this role, along with governance, client management, operational improvement, cross-functional partnership, team development, and global onboarding/transformation oversight.
Strategic Project & Program Leadership
- Provide senior-level oversight across a portfolio of high-value client consulting, onboarding, transition, and transformation engagements.
- Create and uphold governance models, delivery approaches, and reporting expectations for projects.
- Keep delivery aligned to agreed timelines, scope, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare and review project plans, transition roadmaps, RAID logs, governance materials, and Steering Committee updates for executives.
- Track delivery schedules and go-live milestones, addressing risks and dependencies before they impact outcomes.
Client & Partner Relationship Management
- Serve as the main escalation contact and strategic advisor for priority clients.
- Develop and sustain trusted relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Run executive reviews, governance discussions, and regular client status meetings.
- Ensure projects are handed over smoothly to Business-as-Usual teams.
Functional Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Lead improvement efforts across the Special Projects function.
- Build repeatable delivery processes, project structures, and best practices that strengthen client outcomes and efficiency.
- Review processes and analyze gaps to identify optimization opportunities.
- Work with regional and global operations teams to maintain alignment and consistent delivery.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Product leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
- Spot commercial and operational opportunities that can improve customer experience and business results.
- Support sales enablement through solution design, client-facing presentations, playbooks, training content, and process enhancements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and team objectives.
Team Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop project managers and consultants within the Special Projects group.
- Promote a high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork, client success, and ongoing improvement.
- Provide mentorship on project management methods and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with workforce planning, resource allocation, and succession planning.
Client Onboarding & Transformation
- Oversee onboarding and implementation for global client programs covering Payroll, Accounting, Legal Entity Management, HR, Tax, and related services.
- Deliver complex multi-country and cross-functional projects that support international expansion and transformation.
Additional Duties
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and special assignments as needed.
- Represent the Special Projects function in internal and external leadership settings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should bring at least 12 years of progressive experience in program management, project management, consulting, or professional services.
You should have substantial experience leading complex global transformation, implementation, or operational delivery programs, along with a proven track record of working with senior stakeholders, executive sponsors, and strategic clients. Prior success in leading and developing high-performing teams is also required.
Strong commercial and financial understanding is important, including forecasting, resource planning, and budget oversight. Familiarity with Payroll, Accounting, HR, and Legal Entity Management services in international business settings is expected, as is knowledge of global expansion programs and their operational demands.
Experience with payroll providers and platforms, especially ADP and CloudPay, is required. Advanced Microsoft Office skills—particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook—are also needed, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.
