Role Overview
This is a remote position based in Spain. The Director of Project Management will oversee strategic onboarding, implementation, consulting, and transformation initiatives across HSP Group’s global service portfolio. The role is responsible for delivery success, client satisfaction, team leadership, and strong governance across a set of complex, multi-country engagements.
To succeed, the person in this role will need strong commercial judgment, excellent stakeholder management, and confident leadership. They will act as a senior contact for clients, partners, and internal teams, contributing to solution design, proposals, pricing discussions, and executive-level client conversations while also improving how the Special Projects function operates.
Strategic Project and Program Leadership
- Oversee a portfolio of high-value consulting, onboarding, transition, and transformation assignments at an executive level.
- Set up and maintain governance structures, delivery approaches, and reporting expectations for projects.
- Make sure work is completed on schedule, within agreed scope and budget, and to the expected quality level.
- Prepare and review project plans, transition roadmaps, RAID logs, governance materials, and Steering Committee updates.
- Track delivery dates and go-live targets while anticipating and resolving risks and dependencies early.
Client and Partner Management
- Serve as the senior escalation contact and trusted advisor for key strategic clients.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with customers, partners, and other important stakeholders.
- Run executive business reviews, governance sessions, and regular customer progress meetings.
- Ensure projects are handed over smoothly to Business-as-Usual operational teams.
Operational Improvement and Functional Leadership
- Lead continuous improvement efforts within the Special Projects function.
- Create scalable delivery processes, project structures, and best practices that strengthen client outcomes and efficiency.
- Review processes and analyze gaps to find opportunities for service enhancement and optimization.
- Work closely with regional and global operations teams to keep delivery aligned and consistent.
Cross-Functional Business Support
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Product leaders on growth-related initiatives.
- Spot operational and commercial opportunities that can improve customer experience and business results.
- Support sales enablement through solution design, client presentations, playbooks, training content, and process enhancements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and team objectives.
Team Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop project managers and consultants in the Special Projects group.
- Promote a performance-driven environment built on accountability, collaboration, customer success, and continuous improvement.
- Guide team members on project management standards and stakeholder engagement methods.
- Assist with workforce planning, resource allocation, and succession planning.
Client Onboarding and Transformation
- Lead the onboarding and implementation of international client programs across Payroll, Accounting, Legal Entity Management, HR, Tax, and related services.
- Deliver complex multi-country and cross-functional projects that support global expansion and transformation goals.
Additional Duties
- Take on strategic initiatives and special assignments as needed.
- Represent the Special Projects function in internal and external leadership settings.
- Handle other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 12 years of progressive experience in program management, project management, consulting, or professional services.
- Extensive experience leading complex global transformation, implementation, or operational delivery programs.
- Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders, executive sponsors, and strategic client relationships.
- Track record of leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong financial and commercial understanding, including forecasting, resource planning, and budget control.
- Solid knowledge of Payroll, Accounting, HR, and Legal Entity Management services in international business settings.
- Good understanding of global expansion programs and their operational needs.
- Experience with payroll providers and platforms, especially ADP and CloudPay.
- Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience working with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership teams.
