Role Overview

The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain holds a crucial senior leadership position responsible for the strategic leadership and daily operations of the organization's procurement and supply chain departments. This leader will envision and execute comprehensive strategies that improve operational workflows while realizing cost efficiencies. The role demands managing a diverse team that synchronizes procurement activities with production, inventory, and distribution functions. Key accountabilities include supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, forecasting demand, and integrating innovative technologies to optimize the supply chain sustainably without compromising product quality.

Core Responsibilities

  • Craft and deploy an all-encompassing procurement strategy aligned to the company’s broader objectives, driving efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Lead, mentor, and foster the professional growth of the procurement and supply chain department members.
  • Forge and nurture strong supplier partnerships by negotiating advantageous contracts that support organizational aims.
  • Track supply chain performance metrics, performing routine reviews to detect improvement opportunities and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Partner with internal divisions for alignment between procurement efforts, production planning, inventory oversight, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain strict adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in procurement operations and supplier interactions.
  • Perform market research and oversee demand forecasting to optimize inventory levels, minimizing shortages and excess stock.
  • Promote continuous advancements within supply chain processes by leveraging technological innovations and best practices.
  • Generate and communicate supply chain analytics and forecasts to executive leadership, highlighting strategic risks and opportunities.
  • Champion procurement-related sustainability initiatives emphasizing environmentally responsible sourcing.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives that focus on cost efficiency and supply optimization.
  • Broad expertise in supply chain analytics, demand planning, inventory regulation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory mandates and compliance criteria affecting procurement and supply chain functions.
  • Proven leadership capability in managing cross-functional teams and steering organizational change initiatives effectively.
  • Strong negotiation prowess and contract management aptitude, consistently securing favorable terms and fostering supplier collaborations.
  • Proficient use of procurement and supply chain management software alongside data analysis tools supporting decision-making.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a history of introducing creative solutions to complex supply chain issues.
  • Analytical proficiency in interpreting data to guide strategic business choices.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for influencing stakeholders across organizational levels.
