Role Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Director of Procurement & Strategic Sourcing – Regional Coordination is a key leader within the supply chain function. This role is responsible for advancing the company’s supply chain strategy while delivering measurable improvements in cost, service, and risk. The position supports broader business goals such as revenue growth, cost discipline, and operational performance.
Strategic Sourcing and Category Leadership
- Direct strategic sourcing activity across important and complex spend areas, with accountability for achieving targeted savings, service improvements, and risk reduction.
- Personally handle especially intricate and high-value sourcing projects to secure the strongest commercial and strategic result.
- Make sure sourcing decisions support competitive pricing, strong quality and service levels, and low supply or commercial risk.
- Oversee total spend within assigned categories while maintaining visibility, compliance, and value creation.
- Remain up to date on sourcing trends and leading practices, and incorporate them into procurement operating methods.
Regional Coordination and Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the main procurement contact for regional operations and corporate teams, ensuring sourcing priorities stay aligned with business needs.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to help deliver sourcing and supply chain programs successfully.
- Create effective working links between Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Warehousing, Operations, and Finance so handoffs are smooth and benefits are realized.
- Balance the need for common standards with enough regional flexibility to meet local business requirements.
Procure-to-Pay and Process Improvement
- Lead ongoing improvement of procure-to-pay workflows, with emphasis on simplification, standardization, compliance, and a better user experience.
- Introduce and maintain practical procurement frameworks, tools, and templates that strengthen efficiency and decision-making.
- Improve spend visibility and performance measurement through clear KPIs and reporting.
CAPEX and Commercial Optimization
- Provide supplier and market intelligence for process evaluation, performance review, and delivery assurance.
- Assess and manage commercial risk.
- Support cost control during scope definition and negotiation, including bid optimization, scope negotiation, and synergy capture.
Digital Transformation and Analytics
- Contribute actively to procurement digital transformation, including e-sourcing, contract management, and procure-to-pay platforms.
- Act as a business sponsor for procurement system rollouts and upgrades.
- Encourage data-led decision-making and the use of analytics to improve sourcing, supplier, and performance outcomes.
Supplier Risk and Performance Management
- Own supplier risk management for the supply chain function.
- Ensure risk assessments, mitigation plans, and supplier performance processes are established and maintained.
- Develop stronger partnerships with strategic suppliers to support continuity, innovation, and long-term value.
Warehousing and Inventory Leadership
- Provide functional direction to the Warehouse Manager so procurement, inventory, and operational needs remain aligned.
- Support efforts to improve inventory optimization, service levels, and working capital performance.
People Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and grow the Strategic Sourcing and Warehouse teams to create a high-performing and engaged function.
- Put development plans in place to strengthen sourcing, negotiation, and commercial skills.
- Help build a recognized Centre of Excellence in Strategic Sourcing.
- Promote a culture centered on cost awareness, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Law, Supply Chain, or a related field; an MBA or similar qualification is preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and/or supply chain management, including people management responsibility.
- A strong record of delivering year-over-year savings, better service, and improved risk outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in leading several complex sourcing projects at the same time.
- Substantial experience sourcing critical and complex categories of spend; experience in mining or materials extraction is considered a strong advantage where relevant.
- Solid knowledge of procure-to-pay processes and digital procurement tools.
Preferred:
- Professional credentials such as CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or SCMP.
- Understanding of global sourcing, sustainable procurement, and risk-mitigation approaches.
