Overview
Our client, an expanding logistics services company, seeks a Director of Operations to lead a single-site fulfillment center using advanced technology and automation systems. This individual will be responsible for daily warehouse operations, enhancing productivity, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and scalability to support growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct end-to-end fulfillment functions including receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management.
- Supervise and guide managers, supervisors, and frontline staff across the facility.
- Ensure standards for customer service, order accuracy, on-time deliveries, productivity, and workplace safety are consistently met.
- Enhance warehouse layout, optimize product flow, labor allocation, and operational procedures.
- Leverage warehouse management systems, performance reporting, and automated technologies for operational excellence.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual labor, increase throughput, and expand capacity.
- Set productivity benchmarks and manage labor costs according to customer demand fluctuations.
- Maintain accuracy of inventory via cycle counts, audits, and corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and perform root cause analysis to resolve operational issues.
- Collaborate closely with teams in Customer Success, Sales, Transportation, Technology, and Finance.
- Develop site leadership capabilities, enforce accountability, and foster succession planning.
- Oversee operating expenses and contribute to the overall profitability of the site.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable relevant experience.
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience within fulfillment, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or third-party logistics.
- At least 5 years of experience managing managers, supervisors, or operational teams.
- Proven track record managing warehouse, distribution center, or fulfillment operations.
- Hands-on experience with warehouse automation, material handling systems, or system-guided workflows.
- Deep understanding of inventory control, labor planning, productivity metrics, quality assurance, and customer service standards.
- Proficiency using warehouse management systems and operational analytics tools.
- Successful history of process optimization and leading organizational change.
- Strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and effective people leadership.
