Job description
Role Overview
OuterFactor is hiring a Director of Operations to run end-to-end operations at its Galesburg, Michigan site. This is a hands-on leadership position in a growing business that supports enterprise IT, government, healthcare, and education customers through channel partners such as resellers, VARs, carriers, and distributors.
The position combines strategy and execution. You will guide manufacturing and supply chain coordination, warehouse and fulfillment activity, planning, and team leadership while also stepping in directly when needed. The company is looking for someone who has built systems, written SOPs, managed suppliers, and run warehouse operations in real-world settings.
This role is best suited for an experienced operator who is comfortable leading from the front, working on-site, and balancing high-level planning with day-to-day problem solving.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 per year, plus a performance bonus.
Responsibilities
- Oversee relationships with domestic and overseas contract manufacturers, including quality, cost, lead times, and capacity management.
- Manage inbound supply chain discipline such as purchase orders, lead times, inventory placement, and supplier accountability.
- Work with Product and Sales teams to prepare for launches, align bills of materials, and schedule production.
- Direct daily warehouse activity, including receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, shipping, and returns processing.
- Create and enforce standard operating procedures that support accuracy, efficiency, and customer or channel-specific compliance.
- Handle third-party logistics and fulfillment partner performance where applicable.
- Lead sales and operations planning to align demand with supply capacity and inventory strategy.
- Own operational forecasting, capacity planning, and resource scheduling.
- Coordinate with Sales Operations and Finance on order flow, backlog, and cash cycle alignment.
- Lead, coach, and develop the operations team by defining roles, setting KPIs, and maintaining accountability.
- Promote a culture of ownership, problem prevention, and fast issue resolution.
- Serve as a visible, hands-on player/coach who earns respect through direct operational competence.
- Track operational metrics such as on-time delivery, cost per unit, inventory turns, order accuracy, and throughput.
- Drive continuous improvement across functions using practical lean principles.
- Ensure decisions are supported by clean data, reliable reporting, and meaningful KPIs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of leadership experience in operations within manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain settings.
- Proven experience as a player/coach who can switch between planning and hands-on execution.
- Experience building operational processes or infrastructure from the ground up, or in a very early-stage environment.
- Background working with contract manufacturers, either domestic, overseas, or both.
- Strong comfort using ERP systems; NetSuite experience would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, set high standards, and handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Willingness to work on-site in Galesburg, MI, without exception.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting B2B channel partners such as resellers, VARs, distributors, national accounts, or carrier programs.
- Exposure to enterprise mobile devices, accessories, or similar technology hardware.
- Experience scaling operations in the $10M to $100M revenue range.
- Knowledge of EDI, customer-specific routing rules, compliance processes, or large national account fulfillment needs.
