Truly Good Foods is a family and women-owned snack company with nearly 50 years of experience. The company is embarking on its next phase of growth and seeks a Director of Operations to lead the manufacturing function end-to-end.
Role Overview
The Director of Operations will be responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing operation in Charlotte, NC, managing output, efficiency, quality, safety, cost, and plan achievement. This leadership role reports both to the COO and the President with a seat on the Senior Leadership Team and offers a two-year progression path to become the senior operational leader within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure plan attainment, throughput, yield, product quality, and cost management across manufacturing lines
- Lead and develop plant supervisors, establishing succession plans for key roles
- Drive operational continuous improvement leveraging lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Oversee compliance with food safety, GMP, OSHA, and other regulatory standards
- Manage capital projects and equipment reliability, ensuring capacity planning supports business growth
- Maintain labor flexibility and efficiency to align with seasonal business demands and P&L targets
- Own the manufacturing operations budget and identify savings initiatives
- Report operational performance, risks, and opportunities regularly to company leadership
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, engineering, business, or related field
- Over eight years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations
- Industry experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods is highly preferred; distribution or logistics background is a plus
- Proven success leading operational growth within mid-sized companies
- Strong financial acumen with budget ownership and P&L responsibility
- Excellent communication skills, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration
- Effective people leader with experience in team development and succession planning
- Ability to balance short-term operational priorities with long-term strategic investments
