Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is being represented by a hiring partner on behalf of another company, which will handle applications and subsequent steps. The organization is seeking a Director of National Accounts based in the United States.

This is a senior commercial leadership role centered on growing national retail business within the convenience store channel. You will own the strategy and execution for key accounts, with responsibility for increasing distribution, deepening partnerships, and driving revenue across major national chains. As the main point of contact for large retail customers, you will develop durable executive relationships and surface new opportunities at scale. The position calls for a blend of strategic planning, commercial negotiation, and hands-on delivery in a fast-paced consumer goods setting. You will partner closely with marketing, supply chain, and operations to keep account execution smooth and brand presentation consistent. Your work will have a direct effect on national market presence, category results, and long-term growth.

Key accountabilities

  • Own and deliver national account plans that grow the brand’s presence across convenience store and chain retail channels.
  • Spot and convert new business opportunities, including negotiating agreements with major national and regional customers.
  • Develop trusted executive-level partnerships with strategic retail stakeholders to support long-term growth and collaboration.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and secure terms that support overall business goals.
  • Watch market movements, competitor actions, and category performance to sharpen sales strategy and uncover opportunities.
  • Work in close coordination with marketing, supply chain, and operations to ensure trade programs are implemented effectively and products are available when needed.
  • Review account KPIs, interpret sales data, and share strategic recommendations with leadership.
  • Represent the brand across all national account interactions and ensure consistent positioning and execution.

Candidate profile

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 8 years of experience in sales, key account management, or national account leadership.
  • Minimum 2 years directly managing national or key retail accounts with engagement at HQ or C-suite level.
  • A strong history of surpassing sales goals and growing complex retail relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and commercial judgment, supported by a data-led approach.
  • Background in consultative selling and in building value-based business proposals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills across all levels.
  • Sharp analytical ability with confidence in reading market trends and performance metrics.
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively across functions.

Benefits and rewards

  • Competitive base compensation with the possibility of discretionary bonus payouts.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and structured leave arrangements.
  • Family leave support.
  • Opportunity to contribute in a fast-growing national brand environment.
  • Close collaboration with experienced commercial and operations teams.

Privacy and hiring process

Applications are reviewed through an AI-assisted matching process designed to assess fit quickly and fairly against the role’s core requirements. The system identifies the strongest matches, and that shortlist is then passed to the hiring company. Final decisions, including interviews and assessments, are managed internally by the employer.

By applying, candidates acknowledge that their personal data will be processed to evaluate candidacy and share relevant details with the hiring employer. This processing is based on legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures under applicable data protection laws, including GDPR, and candidates may exercise rights such as access, correction, deletion, and objection at any time.

AI tools may also support parts of the hiring workflow, including resume review, application analysis, response assessment, and flagging possible inconsistencies or verification signals. These tools assist recruiters but do not replace human judgment, and final hiring decisions are made by people.
