Job description
Role overview
A fast-scaling consumer products business with well-known brands sold through major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, Costco, and others is looking for a Director of Global Sourcing. The position is focused on expanding and managing its international manufacturing and supplier base while helping the company sustain growth.
The selected leader will drive sourcing strategy and work closely with Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Compliance, and manufacturing partners overseas to make sure products are produced on schedule, at the right cost, and with strong quality control.
What you will do
- Own sourcing programs across Asia for both new launches and existing product lines.
- Collaborate with Product Development so products are engineered for efficient production, scalability, and cost-conscious manufacturing.
- Assist with cost work, including BOM review, should-cost analysis, supplier pricing review, and initiatives aimed at lowering product cost.
- Assess, onboard, and grow manufacturing partners based on quality, technical capability, capacity, pricing, and long-term alignment.
- Work with suppliers to raise quality levels, improve delivery reliability, and strengthen manufacturing performance.
- Support negotiations with suppliers while finding ways to reduce cost, shorten lead times, and improve operational output.
- Coordinate launch readiness for new products by ensuring specifications, packaging, schedules, and quality expectations are in place before production starts.
- Develop strong working relationships with overseas factories through regular visits and continuous engagement.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product Development, Packaging, Compliance, Logistics, Finance, and Operations to help deliver successful launches.
- Spot manufacturing risks early and put practical solutions in place to keep programs on track.
- Track supplier performance and suggest process improvements that enhance execution and support future expansion.
What the company is looking for
- At least 8 years of experience in global sourcing, contract manufacturing, supplier development, product commercialization, or supply chain work in consumer products.
- Direct experience working with manufacturers across China and wider Asia.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes, BOMs, cost analysis, supplier management, and bringing products to market.
- Background supporting consumer products from early concept stage through production.
- Proven ability to handle several projects at once while working with Product Development, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or Business backgrounds are preferred.
