Overview

A leading premium sports enterprise operating at the crossroads of sports, media, entertainment, and commercial partnerships is expanding its finance leadership team. As the organization scales its strategic projects, business ventures, and revenue portfolios, it seeks a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to guide financial strategy and support executive-level decision-making.

Role Summary

This prominent leadership position acts as a trusted advisor to senior executives, delivering financial intelligence that drives operational success, strategic investments, and sustainable growth. The role oversees company-wide budgeting, forecasting, complex financial modeling, executive reporting, and detailed business analysis while collaborating with multiple departments including Finance, Commercial Partnerships, Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Operations, and others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Collaborate directly with executive leadership to provide insightful financial data that influences strategic decisions and supports organizational growth.
  • Build and maintain advanced financial models to evaluate business initiatives, commercial opportunities, strategic alliances, and capital projects.
  • Develop executive-level reports, board presentations, KPI dashboards, and conduct monthly performance reviews.
  • Analyze revenue streams, operational expenses, workforce costs, cash flow, and critical financial indicators to identify patterns, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally with heads of Commercial Partnerships, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, Legal, Human Resources, and Finance departments.
  • Deliver financial assistance during partnership negotiations, sponsorship campaigns, licensing deals, and revenue-driving activities.
  • Enhance budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and planning processes through process automation and adoption of best practices.
  • Monitor and report organizational performance relative to budget and forecast, offering practical recommendations to enhance outcomes.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial review cycles alongside the Accounting division.
  • Present financial analysis, business cases, and strategic insights to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor the FP&A team, cultivating a collaborative, high-achieving finance culture.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum six years of progressively responsible experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, or related areas.
  • Proven expertise managing budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and executive reporting processes.
  • Strong capabilities in financial modeling, forecasting, business case preparation, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working closely with senior executives and cross-departmental business leaders.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial planning tools such as Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Oracle Hyperion, OneStream, Workday Adaptive, or similar software.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, budgeting principles, forecasting methodologies, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategic business choices with data-driven financial insights.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, or developing finance professionals is advantageous.
  • Advanced credentials such as an MBA, CPA, or CFA are considered a plus.
  • Background in sports, media, entertainment, consumer brand sectors, or high-growth commercial organizations is preferred.
