About ANSER
ANSER is a nonprofit public service research institute dedicated to supporting decisions that shape national policy and security. Established in 1958 primarily serving the U.S. Air Force, ANSER provides objective technical analyses for national security, homeland security, and public policy sectors. Its expertise spans areas such as Analysis of Alternatives, Acquisition Analysis, Workforce Analysis, Performance Measurement, Policy Formulation, Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Risk Assessment. Through its subsidiary, Advanced Technology International (ATI), it also oversees federally-sponsored technology development consortia.
Role Overview
The part-time Director of Finance and Accounting, operating remotely, will lead the organization's financial planning, strategy, and reporting functions. This leader will govern the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensure adherence to not-for-profit accounting standards and regulations, and uphold internal controls. They will manage budgeting and forecasting, monitor cash flow, and provide strategic financial guidance to senior leaders to inform organizational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial statement preparation and thorough review ensuring compliance.
- Maintain internal controls aligned with regulatory and accounting standards.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy development.
- Manage cash flow to support financial stability and operations.
- Guide finance and accounting teams in daily operations and remote collaboration.
- Coordinate financial audits and endorsement of policies and procedures.
- Partner with program and operational teams to align financial results with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Extensive proficiency in finance, financial planning, and forecasting techniques.
- Deep understanding of financial statements, reporting accuracy, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced analytical capabilities to interpret financial data and identify trends.
- Relevant experience in nonprofit or government contracting finance environments with knowledge of GAAP and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership in remote finance team management and clear communication of complex financial information.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; professional certifications like CPA, CMA, or an MBA are highly advantageous.
