Job description
Role overview
The Director of Facilities will oversee plant operations and facilities functions for St. Mary’s Health and Clearwater Valley Health in Orofino, Idaho. This position is responsible for operational leadership, financial oversight, and long-range planning to help maintain safe, efficient environments that support high-quality patient care.
Key duties
- Lead, organize, coordinate, and manage the daily activities of the assigned departments.
- Evaluate current programs, services, policies, and procedures to improve how the departments operate.
- Maintain fiscal accountability for the assigned areas.
- Track performance improvement efforts, including goals, key metrics, data gathering, and the impact of process changes.
- Oversee capital projects related to facilities.
- Supervise building systems, maintenance activities, grounds upkeep, and landscaping.
- Apply infection prevention and control standards to design, construction, environmental cleaning, waste handling, and laundry operations.
- Coach, train, guide, and mentor team members.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the assigned departments.
- Support quality assurance activities within the department.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies, including DMS, DNV, The Joint Commission, and OSHA.
- Work proactively toward facility goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with other departments to keep services timely and efficient.
- Use experience and sound judgment to plan work and achieve objectives.
- Carry out other related duties as needed.
- Remain competent in meeting age-specific needs of the assigned unit.
- Attend required safety training and understand responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and job-specific hazards.
- Follow exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Protect hospital and patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and coworkers in person, in writing, and by phone.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Five to seven years of leadership experience in hospital engineering, maintenance, or facilities is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality initiatives and meet performance plans.
- Working knowledge of DNV, NFPA, OSHA, and related regulations.
