Role Overview
This key leadership position at ILIM School blends instructional guidance with creative vision to ensure that every classroom—whether Mandarin, Spanish, or Arabic immersion—is lively and engaging beyond standard teaching. The Director supports teachers, monitors student achievements, and stands as the public advocate of ILIM's unique educational approach.
Primary Responsibilities
- Guide and coach educators in core teaching methods including Montessori, differentiated instruction, language immersion, and project-based learning; identify and manage external trainers when needed to develop coaching programs.
- Take full responsibility for student assessment processes and oversee detailed academic and engagement records for every learner.
- Understand children's cognitive and developmental stages to provide tailored interventions and expert advice to both families and faculty.
- Oversee curriculum execution ensuring lesson plans and activities align effectively with educational goals.
- Participate in weekly collaborative planning sessions with teaching staff and conduct individual coaching meetings.
- Monitor classroom environments and instructional approaches to uphold high-quality curriculum delivery across multiple language settings.
- Conduct regular classroom observations to recognize positive practices and identify factors detrimental to learning.
- Engage directly with parents through communication and by leading parent-teacher conferences.
- Collaborate closely with senior school leadership, including the Senior Director of School and Dean of Parents.
- Maintain comprehensive and ongoing tracking of student progress.
- Organize curriculum nights, conduct school tours, represent the school at educational events, and lead engaging workshops for parents to highlight ILIM's educational philosophy.
- Coordinate field trips and extracurricular activities to enrich the educational experience.
- Attend education conferences and participate in international travel opportunities as necessary.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Exceptional communication skills across different settings such as classrooms, parent meetings, and public speaking engagements.
- Belief in curriculum creation as an inspiring, joyful process rather than mechanical repetition.
- Experience in coaching or assessing teachers within an established pedagogical framework.
- Strong understanding of child development and capability in designing and directing support interventions.
- Highly organized with experience managing assessments, student files, and progress systems.
- Eager to learn and grow professionally in ILIM's pedagogical approach, with a clear advancement pathway to Senior Director.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3 to 5+ years of professional experience in instructional coaching, curriculum leadership, or school administration.
- Preferred Montessori and/or language immersion training or certification.
- Proven ability to manage student assessment frameworks and maintain progress tracking databases.
- Experience in public speaking and leading workshops is desirable.
- Valid passport and openness to international travel.
- Proficiency in two or more languages—especially Mandarin, Spanish, or Arabic—is a significant advantage.
