Director of Culture and Community

Position Overview

The Director of Culture and Community is a senior full-time, year-round administrative role reporting directly to the Head of School at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, TX. The key responsibility is to foster a community environment centered on belonging, inclusion, and well-being across students, staff, and parents, aligned with the school's values of wisdom, honor, service, and Episcopal mission. This role acts as a central coordinator, connecting key stakeholders and programs to nurture a vibrant community identity and prepare students to lead confidently and respectfully in a global context.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school leaders to nurture an inclusive community culture for all members.
• Provide strategic oversight of Culture and Community efforts alongside designated directors and counselors.
• Represent the school publicly on matters of Episcopal identity and inclusion.
• Supervise and evaluate assistant directors, chaplains, and service learning directors.
• Manage departmental budget focusing on community engagement initiatives.
• Partner with directors and staff to ensure authentic experiences of belonging for community members.
• Work with Human Resources to attract, onboard, and support mission-aligned employees through community-building activities.
• Coordinate with Communications to verify that school messaging reflects diversity and community vitality.
• Lead the Care and Response Committee and foster positive culture among parents.
• Serve as the primary contact for pastoral care in partnership with chaplains, including chapel leadership.
• Oversee the Belonging Council and align community inclusion efforts across programs.
• Develop and analyze tools to assess community engagement and well-being, implementing action plans from findings.
• Engage across school divisions, attending major events and participating in community life.
• Organize and support events that promote inclusion and community engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced degree preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience supporting belonging and community care, preferably in educational settings.
• Experience in independent or Episcopal schools is an advantage.
• Open to applicants with lay or clergy backgrounds.

Additional Information

• Involvement in regular administrative meetings, school functions, and professional development is expected.
• Availability to support some events outside normal hours, including weekends.
• Work environment includes typical office and school settings with some physical activities required, such as moving items up to 30 lbs.
• Must maintain appropriate boundaries and sensitivity in working with students and staff.
• The position requires openness to feedback, adaptability to changing duties, and adherence to school policies and culture.
