Job description
Company Overview
Axe Sports Group is a sports marketing agency built around the idea that athletic success should create lasting value beyond the game. Founded by former college athletes, the agency helps active athletes secure NIL and brand partnership opportunities with major brands while also promoting financial literacy, emotional resilience, and practical life skills. The company aims to redirect more value to athletes in a system where schools and media have historically captured much of that value.
The team works with brands and athletes to create innovative marketing partnerships that support young athletes and help growing businesses connect with the sports world.
Role Overview
The Director of Corporate Partnerships & Sales Development is responsible for driving sponsorship growth for Axe Sports Group’s university clients. This includes identifying and qualifying potential partners, shaping customized partnership pitches, negotiating agreements, and managing client relationships to maintain satisfaction and long-term retention.
Beyond generating revenue, this role also includes hiring, coaching, and developing a strong sales team to support company expansion. The position works closely with internal teams to build athlete-centered campaigns, monitor results, and improve partnership and sales approaches. It also supports philanthropy efforts and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen the agency’s presence in the sports business space.
Working Arrangement
This is a remote, part-time position. Compensation is based on commission plus profit sharing. For the right person, this is a chance to join early and grow with the business, with further upside discussions possible as the company scales.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in corporate partnerships, strategic partnerships, or sponsorship sales, with a proven record of building durable, high-value relationships.
- Strong background in new business development and sales, including pipeline management, deal negotiation, and revenue generation.
- Experience hiring, coaching, or leading a sales team, along with a history of helping others meet performance targets.
- Well-developed stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate value clearly to brands, athletes, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to influence decision-makers at different levels.
- Analytical, data-led approach to sales planning, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Willingness to travel as required for partner meetings and events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related discipline; an advanced degree or relevant certifications are an added advantage.
- Prior experience in sports marketing, athlete representation, sponsorships, collegiate athletics, or similar industries is strongly preferred.
Additional Information
The role may involve supporting philanthropy initiatives and thought leadership activities that help expand the agency’s influence and impact across the sports business ecosystem.
