Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of Marketing and Media Strategy is charged with driving the Museum’s unified marketing and media initiatives. The role prioritizes aligning audience focus with art and artists, aiming to boost and maintain ambitious goals for visitor attendance and revenue tied to audience engagement. This position is responsible for linking attendance forecasts, audience segmentation, and marketing efforts to measured attendance results, ensuring a closed feedback loop between projections, targeting, and actual outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and Finance team to align marketing strategies with audience data and financial projections.
- Develop and implement integrated marketing and media plans that span multiple years and are refreshed annually.
- Create detailed integrated marketing briefs for internal teams and external agencies.
- Maintain and refine a dynamic framework for audience segmentation while setting clear goals for each segment.
- Lead the media strategy and purchasing efforts utilizing expertise in paid media, search engines, social platforms, and SEO/AEO techniques.
- Direct campaigns aimed at improving accessibility and growth, especially for free-admission initiatives.
- Broaden outreach to younger demographics, local communities, and Spanish-speaking and Latinx groups.
- Oversee the Museum's digital marketing strategies across platforms.
- Contribute to driving growth in earned revenue across attendance, membership, retail, and food and beverage sectors.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree is mandatory; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- Five to seven years of experience in marketing leadership roles, specifically managing integrated marketing functions.
- Proven expertise in audience strategy and segmentation, with responsibilities tied directly to attendance or demand targets.
- Demonstrated ability in attendance or demand forecasting and associating marketing activities to outcomes.
- Experience in managing operating budgets effectively.
- Leadership skills encompassing managing and mentoring teams, including supervisors.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary ranges from $130,000 to $140,000 annually.
