Director, Games Hospitality Workforce

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), a nonprofit entity that does not receive government funding and relies on donor and sponsor generosity, is seeking a Director for its Games Hospitality Workforce. This leadership role will define the strategic vision, operational framework, and execution strategy for the USOPC Hospitality and Leadership Initiative supporting the LA28 Games. The role includes leading strategy, participant development, partnerships, and overseeing on-site execution of an immersive learning and professional growth program for Team USA Athlete Fellows transitioning to professional careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic vision and model for the Hospitality and Leadership Initiative aligning with LA28 Games objectives, USOPC Development goals, and organization-wide priorities.
• Partner with Athlete Development & Engagement to support Fellow involvement in the broader USOPC Athlete Fellowship Program.
• Jointly manage budgeting, timelines, milestones, risk mitigation, and executive communication with relevant teams.
• Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and development of up to 12 Athlete Fellows and 35 Athlete Docents, establishing consistent standards ensuring a high-quality participant experience.
• Create, manage, and evolve training curricula focused on business, leadership, and hospitality to advance Athlete Fellows’ professional goals.
• Integrate Athlete Hospitality Fellows into the Games Hospitality program through role preparation and sustained operational support.
• Serve as senior lead during Games for role assignments, training, issue resolution, and on-site program oversight for Athlete Fellows and docents.
• Collaborate with Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and other external partners to align program content and delivery expectations.
• Advise USOPC leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive strategy, logistics, participant support, and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee the performance management and coaching of athlete docents and Fellows during Games operations.
• Drive hospitality-centered professional networking and career development initiatives to boost fellowship value and reputation.
• Lead decision-making on participant and personnel issues throughout the program lifecycle.
• Regularly report on program results, risks, insights, and strategic recommendations to USOPC senior leadership, using data and feedback for continuous enhancement.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, leadership development, education, nonprofit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Over ten years of advancing experience in program leadership, hospitality operations, executive coaching, or business operations managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrable leadership of teams, programs, or cross-functional projects with responsibilities including direction setting, prioritization, coaching, and accountability enforcement.
• Experience managing senior stakeholders, external partnerships, budgeting, deadlines, deliverables, and strategic communications in fast-paced environments.
• Preferred background in leading and mentoring emerging professionals in development or career-readiness contexts.
• Strong strategic planning abilities to conceptualize and execute multifaceted programs.
• Exceptional executive presence with advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including briefing senior leaders and representing programs publicly.
• Proven ability to cultivate trusted relationships and effectively influence diverse external and internal partners.
• Sound decision-making and judgment skills capable of managing ambiguity, conflicts, and shifting priorities under high visibility.
• Effective people management skills, including coaching, setting expectations, managing performance, and holding teams accountable.
• Capability to translate broad program objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes suitable for varied audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to new systems and tools.

Work Environment and Conditions

• This position is fully remote, with necessary travel as required.
• Must be available to work on-site in Los Angeles for up to six weeks during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
• The role is a full-time, temporary position extending through September 30, 2028.
• Standard work schedule includes 40 hours per week with occasional nights and weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $125,000 to $130,000 annually.
• This is a full-time exempt position intended for a 40-hour workweek.
• Eligible for an Annual Incentive Award Program with a 20% target; program subject to change or discontinuation at USOPC discretion.
