Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial FP&A, the Director of Commercial FP&A is tasked with oversight of two crucial aspects within the commercial finance scope: optimization of Commercial Deal operations and expansion of Contribution Margin. This senior leadership role involves collaboration with GTM, Revenue Operations, Corporate Strategy, and Partnerships leaders to influence decisions that propel ARR growth and enhance margin outcomes. The ideal candidate is a commercially astute finance leader with experience managing high-performing teams and complex cross-department initiatives, eager to lead AI-driven transformations within Commercial FP&A.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead two central pillars of Commercial FP&A: Operational excellence in deal management and contribution margin growth.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to broaden the Commercial FP&A strategic agenda, including ARR expansion and margin improvement.
  • Drive AI-led innovations to streamline Commercial FP&A processes, enhancing advisory speed, scenario analysis agility, and expanding team capacities.
  • Coordinate with Corporate FP&A to align and adopt best practices concerning cost management and forecasting where responsibilities overlap.
  • Work with GTM leadership to evolve Deal Desk governance, collaborating with Revenue Operations to establish deal quality standards, promotional and concession frameworks, and metrics measuring commercial deal health.
  • Support Monetization Strategy and Pricing teams in translating pricing goals into executable actions.
  • Engage with Partnerships and Corporate Strategy leadership to negotiate and assess the financial health of Strategic Partnerships and Marketplace collaborations, focusing on long-term objectives and margin improvements.
  • Lead financial partnerships ensuring disciplined commercial investment allocation that maximizes margin without compromising ARR growth.
  • Advise on financial decision-making practices around resource investments, efficiency metrics, capacity planning, commission programs, marketing channel allocations, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Facilitate scenario planning and risk assessment over varied timelines to guide strategic decisions.
  • Direct and nurture a team of FP&A professionals through clear vision setting, performance culture, talent growth, coaching, and succession planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Possess 10 to 12+ years in FP&A or strategic finance roles, with at least 5 years in technology or SaaS sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial financial topics such as deal structuring, contracting, pricing, and collaboration with GTM functions.
  • Preferred experience leading AI transformations in financial processes.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial matters effectively to executives and investors.
  • Expertise in financial modeling including deal structuring, scenario analysis, and SaaS-centric margin frameworks.
  • Track record of delivering commercial improvements through enhanced deal economics, operational efficiencies, and margin growth in dynamic environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial management reporting, SaaS financial KPIs (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, Rule of 40), and accounting practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related disciplines; advanced degrees or CPA/CFA credentials are beneficial.

Compensation

The base salary for this Canadian role ranges from 162000 to 180000 CAD annually, supplemented by bonuses, equity, and benefits. This position is not eligible for overtime.
