Job description

Overview

The Parliamentary Service of Ghana is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Director for the Citizens Bureau. This role primarily involves fostering collaboration and communication between Parliament and civil society organizations (CSOs) and think tanks on key national issues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engagement processes connecting Parliament with CSOs and think tanks on significant national matters.
  • Create and maintain a categorized database of CSOs and think tanks operating in Ghana, aligning them with relevant parliamentary committee clusters.
  • Enable efficient information exchange between Parliament and CSO/think tank entities.
  • Organize capacity-building initiatives such as workshops and seminars to improve understanding of parliamentary functions among CSOs and think tanks and promote joint events.
  • Lead coordination and execution of Open Government Partnership and Open Parliament programs.
  • Offer technical guidance to the Open Government Partnership Caucus and Open Parliament Steering Committee and oversee implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Open Parliament Action Plan.
  • Undertake any additional duties delegated by the Clerk to Parliament.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Mass Communication, Public Relations, or a related field from a recognized university, with at least 10 years of post-graduate experience, plus a relevant Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years in a role equivalent to Deputy Director within Public Service; OR
  • A first degree plus a Master’s in the specified fields from an accredited university with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience and a minimum of 3 years in a similar capacity.
  • Experience working with Civil Society Organisations or think tanks is a valuable advantage.
