Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Diagnostic Radiographer specializing in MRI to join the diagnostic imaging team at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, located at Easter Bush Campus. This role is critical in supporting clinical and research tasks by producing high-quality diagnostic images of small animals, utilizing MRI, CT, and radiography modalities.
About the Institution and Team
The Royal (Dick) School is a premier center for veterinary clinical excellence, research, and education with over 800 staff on a purpose-built campus. As part of the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine, the school integrates animal science and human health research and education. The diagnostic imaging team includes 3 radiographers and 7 radiologists working closely to advance veterinary diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain small animal MRI, CT, and radiography equipment ensuring optimal diagnostic image quality for clinical and research use.
- Organize and prioritize imaging workloads independently and collaboratively within the team.
- Plan and coordinate regular maintenance schedules for imaging machinery to ensure uninterrupted functionality.
- Manage the effective archiving of diagnostic images gathered from various modalities.
- Contribute to teaching undergraduate veterinary students in all aspects of diagnostic imaging production.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Qualified diagnostic radiographer with a minimum of two years' experience specifically in CT and MRI imaging.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with students and clinical teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of radiation protection protocols and MRI regulatory standards.
- Essential willingness to handle animals and flexibility to adapt work hours as needed; prior animal handling skills are advantageous.

- Full-time employment (35 hours per week).
- Salary range from £41,064 to £48,822 annually.
