Job description
Role overview
This position is for an experienced or newly qualified diagnostic radiographer who wants to grow within a Band 5/6 development route. You will deliver high-quality imaging across plain films, theatre work, mobile examinations and CT rotation, while maintaining a strong focus on patient care.
What you will do
You will work both independently and as part of a 24-hour imaging team, taking ownership of your caseload, maintaining accurate records and contributing to safe, efficient service delivery. The post involves close communication with multidisciplinary colleagues and other departments, along with compliance with local policy, procedures, clinical governance and IR(ME)R requirements.
You will also support and supervise students and assistant practitioners, use sound judgement to solve workflow and operational issues, and help drive ongoing service improvement. Keeping your CPD record up to date is an important part of the role.
Service and development opportunities
The department works in a demanding trauma, orthopaedic and neuro setting, offering strong opportunities to broaden general imaging skills. If you want to specialise later, there is exposure to a wide range of modalities including DR, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, lithotripsy, DEXA, interventional angiography, general radiography and fluoroscopy.
You may also be involved in imaging support for complex spinal surgery using O-arm and 3D navigation, as well as work in the new Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital. CPD is actively supported, with monthly learning activities and lectures covering a broad range of interests. Role extension is encouraged, including reporting radiography pathways, and advanced practice radiographers are already contributing across the department.
