Role overview
We are seeking a caring Healthcare Assistant to support the Theatre Department. This position offers the chance to work within a collaborative, supportive environment where patient safety, comfort, and efficient theatre operations are priorities. The role suits someone who works well with others, adapts easily to changing service needs, and wants to contribute to high-quality patient care.
Prior experience in a similar setting is helpful, but not essential, as suitable training will be provided to meet the standards required for the post. Applications are welcomed from candidates who have completed health-related T-Levels or BTEC Health & Social Care qualifications.
Essential application requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must hold GCSEs at Grade A-C (9-4) or an equivalent qualification in both Maths and English.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a practical assessment in the Theatre Department as part of the interview process.
Main duties
- Assist the theatre team in supporting patients before surgery, during procedures, and in the recovery period afterward.
- Work across multiple operating theatres to help maintain a safe and reassuring environment for patients.
- Carry out cleaning and readiness checks in line with hospital procedures and safety standards.
- Record key details relating to patients and the equipment used during theatre activity.
- Provide support to qualified staff and contribute to the induction or guidance of new colleagues when required.
- Take part in training and support ongoing improvements to theatre processes and practice.
