Role overview
This opportunity is for an adult nurse with post-registration experience to join a growing neurosciences service in Salford. The post sits within a team known for delivering high-quality patient care and offers the chance to contribute to a specialist ward supporting a broad range of neurosurgical and neurological patients.
About the service
The Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre, part of Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, supports the population of Greater Manchester. The centre includes more than 150 inpatient beds and covers specialist areas such as complex ENT, spinal surgery, short-stay and complex care, major trauma, acute neurology, stroke services including hyper-acute and rehabilitation, programme investigation, and hyper-acute neuro rehabilitation.
Ward B7 is a 25-bed neurosurgical ward caring for patients with a variety of neurosurgical needs. Nurses on the ward have the opportunity to build experience in pre- and post-operative care, as well as support patients with a wide range of spinal conditions, including long-term paralysis, oncology-related cases, and elective spinal surgery.
What the role offers

You will be supported by an experienced senior nursing team, including the corporate matron, lead nurses, consultant nurses, and advanced nurse practitioners. The post also comes with flexible working options where possible, a full induction supported by the Practice Development Team, and access to ongoing specialist education.

- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient treatment and recovery.
- Care for patients with complex neurosurgical and spinal conditions across pre- and post-operative pathways.
- Provide respectful and compassionate support to patients and their relatives.
- Contribute to a diverse ward environment and support the trust’s aim of becoming the safest organisation in the NHS.
Requirements
- Registered adult nurse with post-registration experience.
- Current registration with the NMC.
- Experience of working in a hospital setting, or be a newly qualified nurse.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a clear commitment to excellent patient care.
- Ability to work effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- High levels of compassion for patients and their families.
Benefits and support
Successful candidates can expect varied clinical experience, support from a senior nursing leadership team, flexible hours to suit personal circumstances, a structured induction, and continued educational development. The trust also highlights a competitive benefits package, annual leave, flexible working opportunities, and protected time for health and wellbeing activities to support work-life balance.
