Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced hands-on DevOps Engineer focused on Jira, Git, and AI-driven automation to power and enhance our Change Management, Release Management, and DevOps toolchains. The position involves platform administration, automation scripts, integrations, and continuous improvement of Jira, Confluence, GitHub/Bitbucket, and associated platforms with a strong focus on AI-enabled automation and platform engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee administration and upkeep of Jira, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise, and Bitbucket platforms including migrations and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations using tools like Okta.
- Develop and configure Jira workflows, field setups, permission schemes, notification rules, and project templates.
- Manage user authentication, access controls, and governance policies across platforms.
- Create and maintain automation using Jira Automation, Groovy, Python, Shell scripting, and REST API integrations.
- Design integrations among Jira, Git repos, CI/CD pipelines, Service Management tools, and other enterprise systems.
- Implement and scale observability solutions using LGTM stack components (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) powered by OpenTelemetry for comprehensive system monitoring.
- Develop custom automation APIs and tools in Python or Node.js for onboarding, patching, secret management, and related processes.
- Adopt AI and automation technologies to enhance workflows, ticket management, reporting, and overall efficiency.
- Manage Git repositories including branching models, permissions, webhooks, runners, and DevOps toolchain integrations.
- Lead platform upgrades, migrations, and optimization projects to maximize tool performance.
- Produce documentation, establish best practices, and offer technical leadership to stakeholders.
- Administer applications across multiple cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and IBM.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles by defining service level objectives, organizing on-call rotations, and driving root cause analyses to improve system stability.
- Continuously seek knowledge in emerging technologies including AI to align with future team requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 7 years of IT professional experience including at least 3 years managing Jira Administration (preferably Atlassian certified).
- Proven skills administering Jira, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise, and Bitbucket platforms.
- Hands-on experience with ScriptRunner, Groovy scripting, Jira Automation, and REST API usage.
- Proficiency in Python, shell scripting, and related automation tools.
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
- Experience integrating Atlassian platform with enterprise authentication services such as LDAP, SSO, and SAML.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle, Agile methodologies, Change and Release Management workflows.
- Familiarity with Linux/Windows server administration and SQL database operations.
- Desirable: Exposure to AI-based automation, Copilot tech, or generative AI-powered solutions.
