St Peter’s School, a prestigious independent secondary institution in New Zealand, is looking for an outstanding educational leader to join its Senior Leadership Team as Deputy Principal focused on Curriculum and Assessment Design. Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of curriculum and teaching programs ensuring they are current and effective.
  • Drive excellence in assessment, reporting systems, qualifications management, and student achievement using data-driven practices.
  • Mentor and coach teachers and academic leaders to enhance pedagogical skills and foster professional development.
  • Promote culturally responsive pedagogy, integrating mātauranga Māori and principles from Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Develop leadership capabilities within faculties to encourage teamwork and a high-performance environment.
  • Support student wellbeing initiatives and contribute to maintaining an inclusive and positive school culture.
  • Provide leadership for academic systems, reporting, and associated operational functions.
  • Establish and maintain strong, positive connections with students, families, whānau, and the wider community.
  • Bring Te Ao Māori leadership experience where applicable.
  • Undertake additional duties as necessary.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
  • In-depth expertise in curriculum development, assessment frameworks, reporting, and qualifications management.
  • Good understanding of NZQA standards and modern educational methodologies.
  • Proficient in leveraging student performance data to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching abilities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, sound decision-making, optimism, and emotional intelligence.
