Job description

Role Overview

This position helps provide stable, day-to-day support for residents living with an intellectual disability while also backing the House Leader in running the household.

Key Duties

  • Support residents with personal care routines such as hygiene, bathing or showering, skin and hair care, dressing appropriately, laundry, shopping for clothing, arranging appointments, and accompanying them to hairdressing or beauty appointments. This also includes help with morning and evening care routines.
  • Observe residents’ wellbeing, coordinate with the Community Nurse about minor health concerns, accompany residents to GP or specialist appointments when required, administer medication, and maintain accurate records of medical events.
  • Stay familiar with all care plans in the house and update them whenever needed.
  • Assist residents with everyday money management, including responsible use of funds and keeping clear records and receipts for spending.
  • Help support staff build positive, meaningful relationships with Core Members and ensure residents are included in all areas of home life.
  • Deliver support in accordance with HIQA standards.
  • Provide a high standard of care that meets HIQA regulations and also promotes a rich, fulfilling life for residents.
