About the Role

The New Hospital Programme is a transformative initiative delivering over 40 cutting-edge hospitals across England, designed to meet future patient and staff needs sustainably. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape communications and engagement strategies within one of the NHS’s most impactful programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Head the communications function by uniting professionals across the programme
  • Create and execute a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy on a programme-wide scale
  • Enhance the programme's profile through media, events, conferences, and digital platforms
  • Coordinate major announcements and signature programme events
  • Facilitate collaboration among Trusts, contractors, and system partners
  • Drive internal engagement initiatives that foster a positive culture within the programme
  • Align messaging strategies in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England
  • Lead, manage, and nurture the communications and engagement team
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and high quality in all internal and external messaging
  • Oversee risk management and manage the communications budget comprehensively

Additional Information

  • Successful current NHS employees will undergo an Inter Authority Transfer via the Electronic Staff Record system to streamline onboarding, with the option to opt out

  • Appointments for those recruited externally typically begin at the entry level of the pay band
  • No visa sponsorship is provided for this role
