About the Role
Sobeys is hiring a full-time Produce Department associate in Kingston, Nova Scotia, Canada. In this position, you will help create a positive shopping experience by delivering courteous, professional service and supporting all core activities in the Produce Department. When the Produce Manager is away, you will also step in to guide department staff and help keep operations running smoothly.
Role Overview
This opportunity sits within Store Careers under the Retail - Produce job family. It involves day-to-day produce operations, customer support, merchandising, sanitation, order handling, and administrative tasks as needed. The role is intended for someone who can work independently, stay organized in a busy retail setting, and contribute to a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with produce-related questions and service needs.
- Oversee produce team members when the Produce Manager is not available.
- Encourage a coaching-focused workplace that supports employee growth.
- Prepare and complete customer produce orders.
- Receive incoming produce shipments and orders.
- Carry out daily produce preparation tasks.
- Display and merchandise produce in the department.
- Support SMART retailing practices for the Atlantic region.
- Keep the department clean and maintain required sanitation standards.
- Follow all relevant company procedures and operational standards.
- Handle administrative work associated with the role when required.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Comfort working independently in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Solid work ethic with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- High School Diploma.
- At least 12 months of relevant experience.
