Job description
About the College
Parade College is part of Edmund Rice Education Australia and has a long-standing reputation as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition. The school’s purpose is to support young people in becoming balanced, capable individuals who contribute meaningfully to the wider community. Students are encouraged to develop their talents and pursue excellence across academic, sporting, music, visual arts, and trade pathways.
Founded in 1871, Parade College is the oldest Edmund Rice school in Australia and has built a strong legacy of educational quality and pastoral care. The College places a strong emphasis on best-practice teaching, holistic student development, and a vibrant learning culture. Its learning environment combines contemporary, technology-rich classrooms with a commitment to lifelong learning, innovation, and strong relationships within the school community.
The College’s VCE Vocational Major program became co-educational in 2025, welcoming female enrolments in Year 11. From Term 1 2025, the Preston campus has also expanded its offerings through a new Tertiary Pathways Program, which includes a second stream of the Sport Academy and a Business Academy. These programs give students a pathway to direct entry into selected undergraduate courses at La Trobe University after completing the two-year course.
Role Overview
Parade College is seeking a qualified, highly motivated, and innovative leader for the position of Dean of Learning (Years 10-12). The role suits someone with strong organisational ability, a commitment to Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition, and a clear focus on the safety, protection, and wellbeing of children.
This position sits within the Teaching and Learning Executive and carries responsibility for the oversight, implementation, and administration of the Victorian Curriculum at Year 10, as well as the Victorian Certificate of Education (including VET) across Years 10 to 12. The Dean will work closely with the Assistant Principal, Teaching and Learning, the Dean of Learning (Years 7-9), the Dean of VCE Vocational Major, the Curriculum Leader, and Learning Area Leaders to support the College’s learning and teaching program.
Teaching and Learning Environment
Teaching at Parade College is designed to nurture both personal and lifelong learning. The College values individual strengths while also promoting shared support and a collective drive for excellence. Over more than 150 years, the school has developed a strong capacity to support students’ spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.
The teaching culture is dynamic, professional, and well supported by experienced staff. Students learn in well-resourced, contemporary classrooms that are designed to support a range of teaching styles and learning preferences.
Appointment Details
The successful candidate will begin on 27 January 2027. The appointment is for a three-year leadership term and includes an ongoing teaching role attached to the position. The role attracts Position of Leadership Allowance 4, along with a generous time allowance per cycle.
Application Requirements
Applicants should review the advertisement and position description carefully before applying, to ensure they can demonstrate how they meet the requirements of the role.
