Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Day Lead Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment at Zionsville Community School Corporation's ZWS location in Indiana. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this full-time position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering opportunities for overtime. The role is essential for ensuring daily readiness of the school for activities and events, supporting health and safety for all students, staff, and visitors.
Core Duties
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all school areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and communal spaces.
- Conduct floor maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
- Dust and clean surfaces including furniture, window sills, light fixtures, and more.
- Refill restroom supplies and sanitize fixtures.
- Safely dispose of trash and keep entryways clear and tidy.
- Disinfect high-contact points like door handles and handrails.
- Maintain custodial equipment and storage organization.
- Assist with windows, walls, carpets, and floors as necessary.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including use of PPE.
- Lead snow and ice removal efforts for safe walkways.
- Perform inspections at shift start to identify cleaning priorities and address prior missed tasks.
- Manage cleaning materials upkeep and coordinate supply replenishment for night shift crews.
- Support event-related cleaning duties and post-event sanitization.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks effectively and paying close attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend for prolonged durations.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and adherence to safety practices.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and buffers.
- Reliable transportation required to commute to the job site.
- Must pass background and drug screening if requested.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a positive demeanor are essential.
Additional Information
- Employees may be reassigned to different school buildings during training and ongoing operations based on business needs.
- Compensation is an hourly wage of $16.50.
