About the Role
This position is within the Prison Data Assurance team of the Analysis Directorate at the Ministry of Justice. The role supports data governance, quality, architecture, and management related to prison datasets handled via the HMPPS Performance Hub, a web-based reporting tool. The post is based nationally, with options to work from Leeds or London HQ, Justice Collaboration Centres, or Satellite Offices, offering flexible working arrangements. The officer reports to the Data Warden and carries no line management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, process, verify, and upload prison data onto the HMPPS Performance Hub within set deadlines.
- Address inquiries about prison data using various communication channels effectively.
- Investigate data discrepancies to ensure accurate, prompt feedback to stakeholders.
- Offer advice and guidance on a broad range of custodial datasets.
- Provide updates on data collection and validation progress, escalating issues as necessary.
- Respond accurately to ad hoc data requests.
- Develop and enhance process documentation.
- Conduct national and customized training sessions for customers on data handling.
- Perform quality assessments on prison incident report case-level data and coordinate corrections with prisons, committing a minimum of 7 hours weekly.
Candidate Profile
- Strong precision and detail orientation to maintain data integrity.
- Dedication to maintaining high standards in data accuracy and reporting.
- Excellent teamwork capabilities for working across various departments and stakeholders.
- Skilled in managing databases and workbooks to keep data current and organized.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for handling and analyzing large data sets efficiently.
- Competent in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook for communication and documentation needs.
- Desirable skills include knowledge of quality management, experience delivering presentations, familiarity with prison or custodial data, application of data management standards, understanding Government Information Assurance requirements, and Microsoft Teams proficiency.
