Data Scientist, Product Analytics

Role overview

As a Data Scientist focused on Product Analytics at Meta, you will help shape products across Meta’s family of apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. This role combines technical analysis, product thinking, and strategic collaboration to improve experiences for people and businesses at massive scale.

You will work with rich datasets, develop insights that guide product direction, and partner with teams across Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and other functions. Your work will influence roadmap choices, investment decisions, and the way Meta measures and improves product success.

What you will do

• Use data to inform product direction, surface new opportunities, and anticipate challenges that may affect product development.
• Help partner teams decide what to build, establish goals, and better understand the product ecosystem.
• Develop and test hypotheses using a range of analytical methods, statistical techniques, and research frameworks.
• Turn analysis into clear stories, recommendations, and recommendations that can guide partners and influence decisions.
• Work with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to support product strategy and investment decisions.

Minimum qualifications

• Either currently holds or is completing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, another relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience; the degree must be finished before joining Meta.
• Also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience using analytics tools and data querying languages such as SQL, scripting languages such as Python, and/or statistical software such as R.
• At least 2 years of experience solving analytical problems through quantitative methods, understanding user behavior and product trends, and leading data-driven projects from definition through execution.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
• Experience using AI tools to improve or redesign workflows and deliver measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
• Experience applying responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality or accuracy reviews.
• Ongoing development in AI skills such as prompt engineering, context engineering, agent orchestration, and awareness of emerging AI technologies.

Compensation and benefits

The base annual pay range for this role is $119,000 to $173,000. In addition, the role may include bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The listed pay reflects base compensation only and does not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives where applicable. Meta also offers benefits.
