Opportunity Overview
We are offering a leadership position as Dairy Production Manager (Second-In-Command) at Tasman Dairy, ideal for those currently in a similar role or dairy assistants ready to advance. Join a collaborative, supportive team and work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee farm operations, including feed allocation, animal health and breeding, as well as maintaining animal records. You will also actively contribute on the ground to support the team. On the Farm Manager's days off, you will take charge and ensure the smooth running of operations.
Farm Details
Tasman Organics is a certified organic dairy farm located just 15 minutes from Levin, covering 155 effective hectares. The farm milks approximately 330 cows at peak through a 30-aside herringbone shed. The work schedule predominantly follows a 5:2 roster, shifting to 6:2 during spring to meet seasonal demands and maintain efficient workflow. The farm emphasizes sustainable farming practices, exceptional animal welfare standards, and fostering a strong team culture.
Candidate Profile
- Self-driven and enthusiastic about dairy farming with a desire for career and leadership development
- Proven experience with grazing management and animal health
- Competent in pasture management and feed planning
- Dedicated to upholding high standards of animal welfare and safety protocols
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
- Current, full New Zealand driver's license
- Experience operating farm machinery and tractors
