Job Overview
Based at StarHub in Kuala Lumpur, the Cyber Defence Center (CDC) Analyst plays a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats. This position involves working in 12-hour shifts covering day or night rotations as part of a 24/7 operation, focusing on the protection of organizational information systems and data by ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and incidents using SIEM, SOAR, and other monitoring platforms during 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 environment.
- Conduct initial evaluation and triage of security events to assess severity and potential effects.
- Leverage advanced investigative tools and methods to detect, analyze, and mitigate cyber threats.
- Devise and apply incident response plans, collaborating with other teams as necessary.
- Document incident activities thoroughly, including producing post-incident analysis reports.
- Engage in ongoing threat intelligence sessions and security updates to remain aware of emerging risks.
- Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of incident response playbooks and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or comparable security position.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements related to network and system security standards and regulations.
- Expertise in utilizing SIEM, SOAR, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), firewall management, and threat intelligence solutions.
- Certifications such as CEH, CISA, or GCIH are advantageous.
- Telecommunications and cloud computing knowledge will be considered a plus.
