Role Overview

U-Haul is looking for a friendly, service-oriented person to join the team as a Customer Service Representative / Lot Attendant in Medicine Hat, Alberta. In this hands-on role, you’ll be a visible part of the customer experience, helping people with U-Haul products and services while also checking, maintaining, and preparing equipment for rental and return. The position includes practical, on-the-job learning and training.

U-Haul promotes a fast-hire, fast-pay approach. Candidates may be able to begin work immediately and receive pay the same day through a hands-on working interview. A $100 hiring bonus is offered, along with an additional $300 cash bonus paid right away after completing U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail locations.

Key Duties

You will support customers both inside and outside the U-Haul center, helping them with rentals, equipment, and general product guidance. The role also includes vehicle and lot operations, rental processing, and equipment handling.

Work Responsibilities

  • Support customers at the U-Haul center with products and services.
  • Use smartphone-based U-Scan tools to handle rentals and track inventory.
  • Connect and move U-Haul trucks and trailers as needed.
  • Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
  • Respond to customer questions and explain products and services clearly.
  • Prepare rental paperwork and process returned equipment.
  • Install trailer hitches and wiring.
  • Fill propane tanks; certification is provided by U-Haul after hiring.
  • Operate a forklift; certification is provided by U-Haul after hiring.
  • Take on additional duties when assigned.
  • Continue learning through U-Haul University and ongoing internal training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record that can be maintained.
  • High school diploma or an equivalent credential.

Work Conditions

This role may involve moderate safety risks or discomforts, so special precautions are required. You may work near moving machinery, fumes, or irritating chemicals, and may need to use protective equipment such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Requirements

The job can involve extended periods of standing still, moving between indoor and outdoor areas, reaching items at different heights, and handling equipment that may weigh at least 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
