Job description
About LIC
LIC is a farmer-owned cooperative that has supported herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy industry for more than 115 years. The organisation focuses on genetics, testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and customer service that helps farmers make informed decisions every day.
As a long-standing cooperative, LIC serves farmers, their families, and rural communities with a long-term view. Its people play an important role whether they are on farms, in laboratories, or supporting operations behind the scenes.
About the Role
This seasonal position runs for around 6 to 7 months and supports LIC’s Animal Health team within the Operations & Service Group. Reporting to the Data Analyst Team Leader, the role involves generating accurate parentage matching and test results, sharing those results clearly with customers, and handling enquiries related to laboratory reports.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Data Analyst Team Leader and the wider team in meeting production targets and KPIs.
- Help foster a collaborative, positive team culture that reflects LIC’s values, strategy, and standards.
- Prepare high-quality parentage matching and genetic test results that customers can trust.
- Follow data analysis procedures, apply practical judgement, and check reports before approval.
- Make sure validated data is entered correctly into LIC systems, including MINDA.
- Identify and address data issues or process gaps to protect the accuracy of the national parentage database.
- Work with customers, CRM teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve results-related queries professionally and promptly.
- Support escalated decisions where required and contribute to quality management and ISO 17025 obligations.
- Take part in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities to strengthen processes and resolve system or matching issues.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate communicates well, writes clearly, and can present information in a simple and professional way. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, LIMS, and database tools is important. You should be comfortable working with large data sets, spotting patterns, and solving problems.
Experience in process analysis, process implementation, and process control will be useful, along with the confidence to deal with customers and resolve questions or complaints effectively. Familiarity with laboratory operations is an advantage, as is prior exposure to an ISO 17025 environment. A working knowledge of health and safety legislation is also expected.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary
- Extra leave days
- Flexible working options
- Discounted health, life, income, and disability insurance
- Access to the employee share scheme
- Wellbeing discounts
- Free onsite parking
- Free EV chargers for staff
- Park-like Hamilton office setting with tennis court, pool, onsite café, and social club
Additional Information
This role offers the chance to join a progressive, forward-looking agri-tech organisation and contribute to the future of dairy in New Zealand and internationally.
