Job description
About the organisation
LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that has supported herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy industry for more than 115 years. Its work centres on genetics, dependable testing and diagnostics, integrated farm software, and customer service that helps farmers make better day-to-day decisions.
As a long-standing co-operative, LIC serves farmers, their families, and rural communities with a focus on the future as well as the present. Its people are essential to that mission, whether they are working on farm, in the lab, or in support roles.
About the role
This position reports to the Diagnostics Product Support Team Leader and sits within the central support function for LIC’s Diagnostics GeneMark DNA and Animal Health laboratories. The team uses strong product knowledge and clear communication to support both internal colleagues and external customers.
The role is suited to someone who enjoys variety and keeps customer needs at the centre of their work every day.
What you’ll be doing
You will manage customer enquiries relating to Diagnostics products and take responsibility for a range of administrative tasks that keep the team running smoothly.
This includes reception cover, answering calls, creating and updating bookings, arranging equipment orders, preparing reports, handling account queries, and communicating proactively with clients so they understand what is needed to achieve the best possible results.
What we’re looking for
To succeed in this position, you will already have customer service experience, along with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
You should be a positive team player who can also work independently when needed. The role calls for someone who builds rapport easily, responds to customer needs thoughtfully, thinks creatively, and pays close attention to detail. Confidence on the phone is important, and good computer skills would be an advantage. Experience in dairy farming or with LIC is desirable but not essential.
What’s on offer
LIC offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including extra leave, wellbeing discounts, free onsite parking, free EV chargers for team use, and the chance to work with a friendly and engaging team.
If you are looking for a role that brings learning, development, and varied experience, LIC presents an opportunity to build a rewarding career.
