Role overview
This retail position is based in Dungarvan and reports to the Shop Manager. The main aim of the role is to create a first-class experience for customers by being approachable, helpful, and well informed. You will support the Shop Manager and wider team in keeping the store running smoothly, maintaining strong standards throughout the day, handling bets and payments accurately, and delivering service that leaves a positive impression.
The role also includes responsibility for opening and closing the shop. At times, you may be asked to take charge of shop operations, which can create further opportunities to grow and develop within the business.
Key duties
- Support the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with the everyday operation of the shop.
- Lead the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager, including opening and closing duties, directing the team, and overseeing cash handling procedures.
- Provide customers with a welcoming, knowledgeable, and efficient service experience.
- Process customer bets correctly and promptly using betting terminals, in-shop transactions, and the EPOS system, following the required procedures.
- Represent the brand positively and help introduce customers to the company’s multi-channel and digital services.
- Work calmly and effectively in a busy retail setting, while continually looking for ways to improve performance and personal capability.
- Maintain excellent presentation and housekeeping standards across the shop during the working day.
- Follow all safety, compliance, and operational procedures at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive shop environment.
- Support social responsibility requirements and promote responsible engagement.
- Inform customers about the range of in-shop and online products and services available.
- Take part in training and on-the-job learning to broaden your skills and progress in the company.
