About the role

This position is for a Customer Assistant in Ferrybank, Waterford, with a permanent working pattern of 25 to 30 hours. The role sits within a retailer that serves customers with a broad assortment that goes well beyond groceries, including clothing, household goods, and financial services. What you'll do

  • Keep the customer at the centre of every task and decision.
  • Build positive relationships with shoppers and serve them with care and pride.
  • Support product and service availability so customers can find what they need when they need it.
  • Handle merchandise carefully so quality is protected and items reach customers in the best possible condition.
  • Maintain clean, organised shop floor and back-of-house areas.
  • Work in line with the routines and processes covered in your training.
  • Follow company procedures and health and safety standards at all times.
  • Provide support in other departments when needed, even if your main responsibilities are elsewhere.

  • Natural customer service skills, including a friendly greeting, acknowledgement, and proactive help for customers.
  • A strong work ethic with a willingness to support customers, teammates, and the wider department.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks so the work completed is always right for customers.
  • Flexibility and resilience to cope with changing business needs.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
