Role Overview
Join Tesco as a Customer Delivery Driver and be the friendly face greeting our customers during their home shopping experience. This role involves dynamic, hands-on work with a variety of daily tasks, ensuring customers receive excellent service. Drivers operate mostly independently but have managerial and team support readily available.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver an outstanding home shopping experience, placing customers at the core of all activities.
- Assist with loading the delivery vehicle when needed and verify vehicle roadworthiness before journeys.
- Follow assigned schedules and routes efficiently and carefully.
- Maintain a professional appearance by wearing the uniform and be prepared to assist customers.
- Drive responsibly and safely, abiding by all traffic laws and regulations.
- Respect all road users by practicing courteous driving behavior.
- Interact personally with customers by providing friendly service and addressing them by name.
- Handle customer deliveries with care, as if they were your own belongings.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a full Irish or EU driving license (manual or automatic) for a minimum of two years with no more than three penalty points.
- Exhibit safe and respectful driving habits.
- Have a genuine interest in assisting others and be personable with good communication skills and a sense of humor.
- Demonstrate initiative and practical judgment in day-to-day tasks.
- Show commitment to positively impacting customers and colleagues alike.
- Maintain composure and calmness in high-pressure situations.
Additional Recruitment Conditions
Applicants must undergo Garda vetting, and proof of current penalty points on their license is required at assessment. License status can be obtained through the National Driver Licence Services. Note that applicants disqualified from driving within the last decade are ineligible. Offers are contingent upon providing bank account details prior to start date.
Compensation and Benefits
- Flexible shifts with part-time and full-time contracts ranging from 20 to 39 hours weekly.
- Starting pay for new drivers at €18.24 per hour, including extra pay for Sunday shifts.
