Custodian - Cardston AB Temple

Overview

This role supports the upkeep of a Church facility so it continues to serve members as a place to worship, learn, pray, teach, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. The building is expected to remain a respectful, dignified, and spiritually appropriate environment for the community.

The position is a journey-level custodial role.

Key Duties

• Carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks for all assigned areas to the required standard.
• Help prepare meeting rooms and support room setups when needed.
• Take down and reinstall items such as draperies, chandeliers, lights, and similar fixtures as required.
• Use cleaning chemicals and agents safely, following required protective measures such as gloves, masks, or other safety gear.
• Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, buffers, carpet cleaners, and other assigned machines.
• Use hand tools or motorized tools when the work calls for them.
• Report issues or concerns to the supervisor and maintain courteous public relations at all times.

Skills and Working Requirements

The role calls for practical knowledge of custodial methods, supplies, and equipment. Candidates should be comfortable operating cleaning machines and following safety and equipment-use procedures. Strong comprehension of English is needed for everyday communication, video-based training, site security, and safety instructions. The job also requires the ability to understand verbal and written directions, ask clarifying questions when needed, and complete required training.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing loaded carts, and performing repeated bending, crawling, and reaching.
