Nightshift Custodian at Hamilton Temple, New Zealand

Role Overview

The Special Projects Department (SPD) is looking to hire a full-time Custodian who will work during the night shift at the Hamilton Temple. This permanent position reports directly to the Custodial Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, sanctity, and aesthetic standards of the temple interior as well as the surrounding ancillary buildings to ensure a reverent environment for worship and sacred ordinances.
• Perform custodial tasks using knowledge of procedures, cleaning supplies, and operation of equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, and vacuums.
• Clean all designated areas to established standards.
• Remove and replace draperies, chandeliers, lighting fixtures, and assist with setting up meeting rooms as needed.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and hand or motorized tools safely and effectively.
• Handle cleaning agents and chemicals while using appropriate safety gear including gloves and masks.
• Maintain positive public relations and promptly report issues to the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 23 kilograms, push loaded carts, and perform physical tasks such as bending, crawling, and reaching.
• Good comprehension of English for communication, training purposes, and safety protocols.
• Capacity to understand both verbal and written instructions and ask clarifying questions.
• Completion of safety and equipment usage training is mandatory.
• Eligibility limited to members of the Church who hold a valid, worthy temple recommend.
