Job description
About Search & Rescue Services
Search & Rescue Services Ltd is a dedicated and efficient team consisting of critical care paramedics, pilots, and aircrew who provide lifesaving medical care across the Central and Lower North Island of New Zealand continuously, 24/7. Their work upholds the utmost standards in both aviation and paramedical care, emphasizing ongoing professional development and training while prioritizing safety, clinical precision, and community service.
Role Overview
We invite qualified Critical Care Paramedics (CCP) and Intensive Care Paramedics (ICP) who hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care to apply for opportunities within our aeromedical service. Positions are currently open at Gisborne, New Plymouth, and Hastings locations, including a six-month fixed-term Relief Paramedic assignment providing coverage across the service.
The role involves working within a specialized aeromedical team delivering urgent critical care and emergency medical response to communities nationwide. Responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments and treatments and collaborating closely with flight operations personnel, adhering strictly to aviation safety standards during missions.
Due to the nature of the environment, candidates must be proficient swimmers capable of performing water winching operations onto vessels and into surrounding waters. Physical fitness and professionalism in providing culturally sensitive care are essential.
Candidate Requirements
- Currently registered as an Intensive Care or Critical Care Paramedic with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate from the Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council.
- Possess a relevant critical care graduate qualification.
- Display strong swimming abilities; prior surf lifesaving experience is advantageous. Candidates must pass fitness and swimming tests.
- Capable of performing water winching operations both into water and onto vessels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holding a specialist paramedic practice endorsement is highly favored.
- Previous aeromedical operational experience in fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
- Fitness to conduct helicopter winch rescues in challenging environments during day and night; a trial flight may be part of the selection.
- Prior experience in emergency medical services fields.
- Legal employment rights to work in New Zealand.
Additional Information
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Police Check.
Equity and Diversity
The organisation is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity. They value not just qualifications and experience but also personal values and contributions to team culture.
Application Process
