Job description
Overview
A. Raptis & Sons Pty Ltd operates three advanced 27-meter steel fishing trawlers in the Great Australian Bight region, departing from Adelaide and Port Lincoln, South Australia. These vessels feature modern refrigeration and electrical systems and are powered by Caterpillar or General Electric marine engines.
Crew Structure and Roles
The fishing crew consists of Skippers, Engineers, Mates, Cooks, and Deckhands. The vessels are further supported by shore-based administrative and engineering services. Multiple crew openings frequently arise, as fishing activities in this region take place throughout the year.
Position Requirements
- Marine Engineer: Candidates must hold Marine Engine Driver (MED) qualifications level 1 or 2 with a refrigeration endorsement, possess First Aid certification, and have experience in commercial fishing or sea-going roles.
- Deckhand and Cook: Preference is given to individuals with prior at-sea experience.
Additional Information
The Great Australian Bight fishery provides supplies to busy market hubs in Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Crew members receive a share of the catch's value. Expressions of interest for crew positions are directed to Skippers, who operate as independent contractors and make their own crew selections.
Application Details
Interested candidates should submit their resumes to the Fleet Master, Southern Division, via email.
