Job description
Role overview
This temporary 12-month contract is for a highly independent Creative Specialist supporting Global R&D and Global Engineering. The position is based in Framingham, Massachusetts and is strongly preferred onsite or hybrid for local candidates. For the right person, a remote setup may be considered if they are located in the Eastern Time Zone.
The role sits close to executive leadership and reports to the Chief of Staff in the office of the SVP of Global Engineering, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Enterprise Communications. The main goal is to turn technical work, engineering progress, and business priorities into polished internal communications that are suitable for executive audiences.
Core focus
You will work at the point where technical innovation and corporate storytelling meet. The job involves listening in on senior-level discussions, identifying the key takeaways, and converting complex engineering updates into clear messages, leadership presentations, announcements, and internal narratives.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in executive meetings and extract the most important themes, then shape them into concise leadership summaries, updates, announcements, and presentation content.
- Make sure all communications for R&D and Engineering stay consistent with broader company messaging and brand standards.
- Develop internal content using technical milestones and business data to create engaging stories for global engineering audiences.
- Own projects from initial idea through delivery, coordinating timelines, stakeholders, and execution with very little supervision.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned communications professional with strong judgment, discretion, and the confidence to work directly with senior executives. They should be comfortable operating independently and should be able to communicate effectively with engineers and technical leaders.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in corporate communications or internal communications.
- Prior exposure to R&D, software development, or another highly technical engineering setting is strongly preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- Strong maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to work without close supervision.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint and Word, with a strong portfolio of executive-ready, visually polished, data-informed presentations.
- Working knowledge of common business tools; while the engineering organization uses Jira and Jama, this role mainly relies on standard communications software.
Location and work setup
Framingham, MA is the preferred location, and local candidates may be considered for onsite or hybrid work. In-person interviews are preferred for local applicants. If local candidates are limited, exceptional applicants based in the Eastern Time Zone who need a remote arrangement may also be considered.
Compensation and assignment details
The pay range is $47.88 to $51.57 per hour, which is roughly equivalent to a $100k base salary range. The assignment is expected to start on July 6, 2026 and is described as a 12-month temporary contract with possible extension.
Equal opportunity and accommodation
The employer is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status. Reasonable accommodations are available during the application or interview process for candidates who need them.
Benefits and additional information
The compensation offered will depend on factors such as education, experience, work location, job responsibilities, and certifications. Benefits may include medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage, AD&D and life insurance, short-term disability, and a 401(k) plan, subject to eligibility.
