Job description
Role Overview
As Court Security Officers at Pukekohe District Court, we pride ourselves on maintaining a secure environment that allows the community to access justice free from fear or intimidation. This full-time, permanent position offers a dynamic work environment filled with diverse interactions, challenges, and meaningful contribution to public safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage and build rapport with varied individuals within the court setting.
- Conduct security screening and operate CCTV and electronic access control systems.
- Collaborate with police, corrections staff, lawyers, and judicial officers to ensure safe court proceedings.
- Patrol public spaces, perform security checks, respond promptly to alarm activations, and manage health and safety risks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in customer service, security, defense, or government sectors is advantageous but not mandatory since comprehensive training is provided.
- Comfortable using technology and digital security equipment.
- Competent in de-escalation techniques with the physical fitness to pass full contact Officer safety training.
- Must hold and maintain a full, clean New Zealand driver’s license and have a clear criminal record validated by police vetting.
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural awareness, particularly relating to Tikanga Maori, with appreciation of their significance within court security and the Ministry of Justice.

Working Conditions
This role entails a standard 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with paid overtime available when extra coverage is needed. Rostered shifts may require a minimum three-hour work period on Saturdays. Travel to neighboring courts may occasionally be necessary, with travel expenses covered by the Ministry.

Salary
The salary range for this position is NZD $60,729 to $80,794 annually, dependent on experience and skills.
