Job description
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated Court Security Officers for the New Plymouth District and High Court to maintain a safe and secure environment where justice can be accessed without intimidation or violence. This permanent full-time position offers a dynamic work environment involving interaction with diverse people, providing safety in court settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with diverse individuals.
- Conduct security screening and operate CCTV and electronic access control systems.
- Collaborate with Police, Corrections, lawyers, and Judicial officers to support secure court proceedings.
- Patrol public areas, perform building security inspections, respond to alarm activations, and manage security, health, and safety incidents.
Skills and Experience Required
- Prior experience in customer service, security, defence, or government roles is preferred but not mandatory; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Comfortable working with technology.
- Proficient in de-escalation techniques.
- Physically capable of meeting qualification standards for full-contact officer safety training.
- Possess and maintain a full clean New Zealand driver’s license and clear criminal record including police vetting.
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga Maori, and cultural sensitivities relevant to the court security role and Ministry of Justice.

Additional Information
