About the Role
We are seeking a skilled individual to join the Dunedin District Court’s Criminal team as a Court Registry Officer. This permanent full-time position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of court operations, including direct communication with judges both in court and chambers.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate court operations by managing court proceedings, introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori, supporting courtroom and chambers activities, overseeing jurors, and handling general court administration.
- Manage cases ensuring judiciary and involved parties have all required information and logistical support to ensure timely hearing of cases.
- Provide customer service by addressing court-related inquiries through face-to-face, telephone, and email communication channels.
- Maintain a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence as a job requirement.
Skills and Experience
- Precision and attention to detail to handle complex court processes and accurate case information.
- Self-awareness with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse and sensitive environments.
- Ability to multitask effectively, managing conflicting priorities and quickly transitioning between tasks.
- Eagerness to learn and keep updated with ongoing changes in legislation and court procedures.
- Resilience to manage sensitive and sometimes high-volume case work professionally.

Salary
The salary range for this position is between $60,729 and $80,794 annually, with starting compensation determined by skills and experience.
