Role Summary
The UK Country Manager will be responsible for achieving the sales targets and business goals within the UK market by leading both sales and marketing strategies. This leadership role includes managing Key Account Managers and a National Account Manager while driving marketing execution and compliance with relevant regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee operational management of account managers to meet UK objectives across healthcare sectors.
- Engage with key customers, including NHS organizations and healthcare professionals, through various meetings and events to nurture partnerships.
- Secure formulary listings, favorable contracts, reimbursements, and implement protocols to support product uptake.
- Lead market access initiatives such as establishing guidelines, protocol inclusions, and service redesign projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with MHRA, ABHI, and ABPI standards.
- Travel extensively (50-60% workweek) within regions, including overnight stays, to fulfill business requirements.
- Manage tender submissions, evaluate contract renewals, and mitigate financial risks.
- Plan and analyze territory coverage to maximize sales performance and identify prescribers and influencers.
- Conduct pricing assessments aligned with financial targets and margin protection.
- Develop and implement business plans, including for oncology, endocrinology, neurology, critical care, and diagnostics sectors.
- Coordinate marketing strategy development, digital campaigns, launch planning, and event organization within budgetary constraints.
- Lead and mentor the sales and marketing team, fostering communication and strategic alignment.
- Maintain comprehensive market knowledge, competitor analysis, and reporting for informed decision-making.
- Manage financial expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgets and company policies.
- Complete timely administrative duties including expense submission, CRM data entry, and sales forecasting updates.
- Collaborate internally across executive, commercial, finance, product development, and medical teams, and externally with healthcare providers, KOLs, payors, agencies, and compliance bodies.
- Adhere to company values and ethical standards in all interactions and engagements.
Candidate Profile
- Degree-level education in Business, Pharmacy, or related pharmaceutical fields.
- ABPI accreditation is mandatory.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and communication tools like Teams and Skype.
- Minimum of 10 years pharmaceutical experience in primary and secondary care, including at least 5 years in a managerial position within a medium or large pharmaceutical company.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English with strong organizational and teamwork skills.
- Possession of a clean driving license is required.
- Demonstrated networking abilities to build and sustain strategic relationships both internally and externally.
- Solid business acumen with awareness of market trends, competitors, and strategic business drivers.
- Leadership qualities including integrity, effective communication, decisiveness, accountability, empowerment, resilience, and motivational capabilities.
- Strong goal orientation with an ability to inspire teams and achieve results efficiently.
- Commitment to high standards of customer service prioritizing patient needs.
- Preferred qualifications include secondary care access training, neurology or critical care expertise, and experience with recent product launches and market access in secondary care.
