Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison will support the safe and effective use of the company’s therapies by translating complex medical and scientific information for healthcare professionals and by sharing field insights with internal teams. The role includes internal and external training responsibilities and reports to the Europe MSL Director.

This is a field-based position with an assigned territory, requiring autonomous planning and execution of medical initiatives to help achieve SERB’s medical objectives in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

Therapy training

• Engage healthcare professionals proactively and provide on-label product and procedural training for SERB therapies.
• Act as a subject matter expert for medical education and internal training programs.
• Support Commercial and R&D teams with product, disease-state, medical, and scientific training.
• Deliver refresher training to users who are not reaching the expected outcomes.

Medical support and scientific exchange

• Develop and manage peer-to-peer relationships with external experts and key opinion leaders through scientific and educational exchange.
• Track medical and scientific barriers that may affect patient outcomes.
• Monitor emerging research, new publications, changes in practice patterns, and alternative treatment options.
• Communicate the full clinical evidence base in a balanced and non-promotional way.
• Share clinical evidence with HCPs and clearly explain any evidence gaps.
• Implement medical plans and discuss technical and clinical data supporting new products or indications.
• Map the territory to identify KOLs who can provide useful clinical insights.
• Support external experts speaking on company products at congresses and medical meetings.
• Collect field medical insights that may influence therapy safety, efficacy, clinical and R&D strategy, or competitive activity.
• Build insight-gathering approaches across a broad stakeholder base.
• Communicate information to internal stakeholders in a clear, practical, and concise way.
• Identify important clinical insights and knowledge gaps and explain their significance.
• Support congress activity by sharing accurate scientific information and following up in a timely manner.
• Develop and execute KOL engagement plans around congresses.

Local medical planning and stakeholder engagement

• Identify local medical and patient needs and translate them into country-aligned medical plans.
• Work with medical societies and respond to medical and scientific questions related to assigned products.
• Plan and coordinate scientific educational activities and advisory boards with KOLs in the relevant therapeutic area.
• Submit timely reports on field interactions, events, KPIs, and medical activity plans.
• Support Commercial and Market Access teams with presentations for hospital formularies and reimbursement stakeholders when needed.
• Research medical information thoroughly and respond to information requests from HCPs with sound, timely assessments.
• Use medical information to strengthen KOL relationships and provide strategic insights to the business.

Research and clinical trial support

• Support Clinical Development in company-sponsored studies through site identification, site initiation, protocol education, and ongoing assistance.
• Spot issues that may help or hinder recruitment, data quality, or patient retention.
• Recommend sites capable of strong patient enrollment and high-quality data delivery.
• Support principal investigators with current information that may improve recruitment and study quality.
• Use scientific exchange to surface investigator-initiated study ideas.
• Understand how new concepts fit the company strategy and recognize ideas with potential to improve patient care.
• Support investigator-initiated research by helping shape ideas, enabling study start-up, and providing ongoing consultation.
• Provide quarterly updates to senior leadership on study progress and scientific insights.
• Share major milestones with company leadership.
• Ensure all interactions are conducted ethically, professionally, and in line with company values and quality expectations.

Requirements

• University-level education in life sciences, such as medicine, pharmacy, or nursing, with a master’s degree or higher.
• At least 5 years of experience in pharmaceuticals or life sciences, ideally in an MSL role.
• Strong understanding of the German medical system, hospitals, and scientific societies, with a preference for exposure to hematology/oncology stakeholders.
• Scientific and clinical research knowledge.
• Ability to interpret insights from clinical data.
• Solid scientific and medical judgment, ideally backed by publications.
• Clinical experience or healthcare exposure in a complex care setting is preferred.
• Ability to learn new therapeutic areas quickly.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office and web-based customer and clinical support tools.
• Fluency in both German and English.
• Excellent consultative and interpersonal skills.

Work Location

This is a field-based role covering the southern part of Germany. The ideal candidate should be based near a major city with an international airport in Southern Germany.
